Five Spice Salted And Fried Meaty Spare Ribs

This is an extremely unique recipe is unique in two ways, the mix of ingredients with the spare ribs, and that you are using a cast iron pan to fry your food on a grill! Taking a fun and possibly new meal to another level with a fun way of preparing it.

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs of meaty pork ribs

For The Five Spice Salt:

  • 2 tbsp of sea salt
  • 1 tbsp of black peppercorns
  • 1 tsp of Chinese 5 spice powder

For The Marinade:

  • 2 tbsp of soy sauce
  • 1 tsp of granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp of white wine
  • 1/2 tsp of ground pepper
  • 1/4 cup of corn starch
  • 8 cups of canola oil, for frying

Directions

  1. Using a cleaver, chop spare ribs into 2” pieces.
  2. In a medium bowl, toss ribs with 1 Tbs 5 spice salt mix.
  3. Add marinade to the bowl and toss well to coat the meat evenly.
  4. Refrigerate over night.
  5. Bring canola oil to 350* in a medium large sauce pan with high sides on Fire Magic Burner unit.
  6. Toss ribs in corn starch. Fry for 3 minutes. Pull from oil and allow to drain 2 minutes, then re-fry for an additional 1-2 minutes. This second step gives an extra delicious crispy texture. Serve hot.
